he program includes private transportation, meeting with a specialized and authorized Vesuvius guide, for the start of the volcano climb at 9:00 a.m., with access to the entire cone. This intense, medium-difficulty trekking route includes an elevation gain of approximately 800 meters for a total of approximately 7km. During the trek, volcanology and history will be explained and addressed, including a volcanologist’s perspective on how Vesuvius formed and how it covered Pompeii and Herculaneum. Above all, visitors will experience firsthand the minerals and soils of past eruptions. Visitors will be able to approach the calderole (hot springs) and reach the highest point of the cone, then continue along slopes of lupilli, passing lava fields, and finally reach the Sorrentino vineyard for a unique tasting among the vines.

The company, Sorrentino Vini, is located on a unique slope of Vesuvius, once affected by the powerful pyroclastic waves that covered Pompeii during the eruptions of 79 AD. And it’s right here that the trekking route ends, connecting to the tasting in the vineyard, where our sommelier from the European Sommelier School will guide you through the exploration of volcanic wines.
